Post by ZobovorIs "Dianaut" the proper term for "Diaclone pilot" or "Diaclone driver"?
I have literally never heard that term before until today. I feel like
an uncultured ignoramus.
Oh yikes I had to check if it was an official term. I don't remember
where I picked it up but I've called them that for as long as I can
remember. Apparently the correct parsing is Dia-Naut and I think it goes
back to the original Diaclone days.
Post by Zobovornow enough time has passed that I can finally
get excited about Sunstreaker now. He's an awful character, but I have
always loved his toy so much.
It was my first deluxe Autobot and if I could just remember when I
got Gears, Sunstreaker may also have been my first Transformer ever. So
it mean a lot to me and I've never been without one. Since it's one of
those that has never been reissued I am sure the MissingLink version
will sell like hotcakes. I don't know that I really need one but I could
sure use a Cordon.
Post by ZobovorI guess you could argue that while it's not the original
Diaclone toy per se, it's Diaclone-adjacent, and it's probably the only
way that the toy, or something close to the toy, will be accessible to
the bulk of most collectors nowadays.
Oh yeah a ton of people are clamoring for a Diaclone police Countach.
The original is astronomically rare and expensive. You could argue the
Diakron red Sunstreaker made that color deco a little more available but
the police version was never released in North America in any fashion.
This again will be in extremely high demand.
Post by ZobovorI guess we can expect a Missing Link Spin-Out or something eventually as
well, most likely.
Yeah the numbering works out so that MissingLink C06 is Sunstreaker,
C07 is Cordon, and C09 is Ultra Magnus (if the rumors are true). So
there's a hole there for C08 that hasn't been revealed. Or they could
make it a convention exclusive outside of the numbering system.
Post by ZobovorZob (wouldn't mind a Missing Link Nightbeat, honestly, if I can get it
for less money than a vintage 1988 toy)
At this pace we are at least 5 years away of MissingLinks before that
happens. But yeah, all those chunky '87-'88 -Masters toys could use a do
over. What would be really neat is if they made little changes like
giving Misfire a working cockpit or make that fourth large Decepticon
targetmaster that I hear was supposed to exist. The line has so much
potential but I don't want to get my hopes up.
My MissingLink Bumble and Cliff are shipping. I expected we'd see or
hear of redecos of those by now. And where are the D-series
MissingLinks?
