Sunstreaker's got the headlamp stickers that only ever appeared in
the '84 catalog and some advertising.

TFW has a report that the latest issue of Figure King has more pics
and information. Diecast content is reported to be the same as the
original but the 'Countach' sticker on the spoiler will be omitted as
these are not licensed. Also Sunstreaker will have a Dianaut!

I was always upset for some reason that the actual G1 Sunstreaker toy
didn't have those headlight stickers. On some level I always felt like
we were missing out.

Is "Dianaut" the proper term for "Diaclone pilot" or "Diaclone driver"?
I have literally never heard that term before until today. I feel like
an uncultured ignoramus.

Sunstreaker was revealed on the same day as Missing Link Arcee, so it
was kind of hard to get excited about him because all the focus was on
Arcee. With that said, now enough time has passed that I can finally
get excited about Sunstreaker now. He's an awful character, but I have
always loved his toy so much.

Cordon is a little less exciting to me. It was easy for me to pick up
non-characters to add to my ever-growing pile of non-characters
(Lift-Ticket, DK-3, etc.) when I was paying Deluxe-class prices for
them. But a Missing Link version of police car Sunstreaker, a
non-character, for what will probably be around $70 USD is a bit of a
hard sell. I guess you could argue that while it's not the original
Diaclone toy per se, it's Diaclone-adjacent, and it's probably the only
way that the toy, or something close to the toy, will be accessible to
the bulk of most collectors nowadays.

I guess we can expect a Missing Link Spin-Out or something eventually as
well, most likely. Red Sunstreaker is another Diaclone-era holy grail
for a lot of people, so in some ways this will be the next best thing.

Zob (wouldn't mind a Missing Link Nightbeat, honestly, if I can get it
for less money than a vintage 1988 toy)

Oh yikes I had to check if it was an official term. I don't remember
where I picked it up but I've called them that for as long as I can
remember. Apparently the correct parsing is Dia-Naut and I think it goes
back to the original Diaclone days.

It was my first deluxe Autobot and if I could just remember when I
got Gears, Sunstreaker may also have been my first Transformer ever. So
it mean a lot to me and I've never been without one. Since it's one of
those that has never been reissued I am sure the MissingLink version
will sell like hotcakes. I don't know that I really need one but I could
sure use a Cordon.

Oh yeah a ton of people are clamoring for a Diaclone police Countach.
The original is astronomically rare and expensive. You could argue the
Diakron red Sunstreaker made that color deco a little more available but
the police version was never released in North America in any fashion.
This again will be in extremely high demand.

Yeah the numbering works out so that MissingLink C06 is Sunstreaker,
C07 is Cordon, and C09 is Ultra Magnus (if the rumors are true). So
there's a hole there for C08 that hasn't been revealed. Or they could
make it a convention exclusive outside of the numbering system.

At this pace we are at least 5 years away of MissingLinks before that
happens. But yeah, all those chunky '87-'88 -Masters toys could use a do
over. What would be really neat is if they made little changes like
giving Misfire a working cockpit or make that fourth large Decepticon
targetmaster that I hear was supposed to exist. The line has so much
potential but I don't want to get my hopes up.

My MissingLink Bumble and Cliff are shipping. I expected we'd see or
hear of redecos of those by now. And where are the D-series
MissingLinks?

They should have included an option to have yellow stickers on
Sunstreaker's shoulders rather than red. The only reason G1
Sunstreaker's shoulder stickers were red was because he was originally
intended to be red like the Diaclone version. He was changed to yellow
and Hasbro didn't correspondingly change the shoulders stickers to
reflect it. His vehicle mode would then make sense as all-yellow and
beautiful. Missing Link Sunstreaker is too faithful to the G1 version.

Some of the G1 Dinobots, Ironhide and especially Bluestreak had the same
problem with their sticker sheets not being updated to reflect the
colour change. G1 Plain Bluestreak is rather ugly when his blue shoulder
stickers are applied.

Who knows maybe they will. The ML Bumble and Cliff decal sheets come
with optional card art accurate flat headed Autobot sigils and
Microchange rectangle stickers. Maybe they will have some sticker
options for Sunstreaker like the Car Robo on the waist and yellow
shoulders. But it smells to me like they're gonna double down on package
art / pre-TF detail accuracy as a priority as much as they can.

Red kinda makes the shoulders pop, though, and keeps Sunstreaker from
looking completely like a banana.
